Four teens are accused of going on a crime spree from Rancho Cordova to Sacramento and then toward Davis.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said the suspects stole a car, which was later linked to a home invasion. Then, deputies said the suspects led them on a high-speed chase, which ended on Interstate 80 at the Yolo Causeway where the teenagers were arrested.

It started with the car theft in Rancho Cordova on Tuesday.

“The car was parked right here, and you can see the tire marks there,” said Crystal Roberson while pointing to the marks left in her driveway after her car was stolen.

She believes it happened around 6:45 or 7 p.m.

“Yesterday happened to be my birthday,” she said. “I was coming back from vacation.”

She had a 2017 Kia, a car that has become known for being unusually easy to steal.

“And the crazy thing about that is today, I had an appointment to go get the upgrade,” Roberson explained.

She planned to get a security upgrade to prevent theft, but she was just one day too late.Law enforcement said her stolen car was spotted later Tuesday night on Kenelworth Way in the Valley Hi neighborhood of Sacramento, linked to a home invasion.

An elderly man told KCRA 3 News that he woke up just before midnight to see several people, including his grandson, standing over him with guns aimed at him. He said they hit him and demanded to get into a safe where he kept his guns but, instead, they took a gun that was not locked up in the safe and drove off.

Shortly afterward, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the stolen car and the driver led them on a high-speed chase, going more than 100 miles per hour at some points.

When they got to Interstate 80 and the Yolo Causeway, the Sheriff’s Office said the suspects stopped and three teens jumped out and tried to make a run for it.

It prompted an hours-long search until all four teenagers were taken into custody just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday. There was a 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds, who are expected to be booked into a juvenile detention facility. Police have not yet said exactly what charges each of them could be facing.
